12-13
Cambodia was the first place to look at our replacement passports kinda funny. But there were no real problems. We were able to buy a visa at the border. After we walked 200 yards across the border we got on another slow boat, and when I say slow, you could keep up with these boats by jogging slowly.... very slowly. We rode for a few hours on that boat up the Mekong and then disembarked and got on a bus to Phenom Penh. We arrived about 7:30 and that is about that.

12-14
We walked around Phnom Penh today. We went to the royal palace. It was really exotic looking. I'm glad we went. We also went to an old market. We saw baskets of crickets and roaches and other insects all fried up and ready to eat. Needless to say, we passed on that. We have also found that it can be quite difficult to spend the local money here. They would rather have dollars. Luckily I exchanged some VN dong for US dollars before we crossed the border. Almost everything is quoted in dollars and if they have to convert it, they screw you on the exchange rate. I think it is kinda cool that our currency is so valued. We also saw a couple of Wats today (look that one up, Phantom).

I have finished uploading all of our Vietnam pictures. Click on the link in the Vietnam blog. The Vietnam 2 link.
You can see pictures of my new haircut there!

Oh yeah, Linh had to rent a T-shirt at the royal palace because her spaghetti strap shirt didn't meet up to temple standards. We had to put a $1.25 deposit on the shirt. Low and behold, it had a little UNC logo on it.....so we just kept it!

12-15
We got on a bus for Sihanoukville. This is a beach town on the southern coast of Cambodia. The bus ride was about 4.5 hours and uneventful. We got to the bust station and hopped on a transport to a guest house. The guest house is up on a hill over looking the ocean. They have a nice restaurant on a veranda with a great view. We had a late breakfast there.
Linh and I both seem to have a touch of "Pol Pot's gut rot" (I made that up). Linh is feeling was feeling nauseous and I had to take some immodium. Our room is only $6. No hot water or a/c, but it is nice and has a nice big tv with 3 movie channels on it. We didn't much feel like going out so we basically hung out in the room all day.

12-16
I feel much better today, but Linh is still a bit nauseous. Nevertheless, after breakfast we ventured out. We took a walk on the beach and are looking around town. Nothing much of note happened today.

12-17
We rented a motorscooter and drove all around town today. We found a really nice uncrowded beach with sugary sand and blue water and went swimming there for a bit. We also located a church for tommorow.

12-18
We woke up early and made mass at 8:00 am. This is one of the poorest churches we have ever been too. They didn't even have pews. The benefit to sitting on the floor was that they didn't make you stand up. We gave a little extra to this church. In the '70s this church was actually used as a prison.
After church we ate breakfast and then got on the fast ferry to Thailand. It was about 4 hours of going up and down. Linh downed some dramamine and somehow avoided puking. By the way we are both pretty much over our stomach problems.
See you in Thailand!
I have uploaded more pictures into the Cambodia album.
